Yup! Really interesting thing!
As we all waiting for a while, now there is an option in cPanel backup section to configure our server backup to remotely on Google Drive.
They introduced this feature in its latest version, now onward from version 66. Please make sure that your server has the latest version of cPanel software.
You can check the version by running the following command as root.
cat /usr/local/cpanel/version
If it’s not up-to-date, change it to the latest version. You can do this by executing the following command.
/scripts/upcp
That’s it!
You can use your free 15GB Google Drive space for your cPanel server backup. This will help you to store data remotely, securely and will able to access it any time from anywhere!
This will help you to use the server space more effectively.
You can configure this from WHM panel as root user. Please log into WHM and move to Backup Manager option..
Steps are pasted below:
Step 1 : Log onto WHM as root.
Step 2 : Home » Backup » Backup Configuration.
Step 3 : Select/change backup destination as Google Drive.
Refer this screen shot.
Refer this cPanel documentation to setup API for backup configuration.
Minimum Free Disk Space Update
Also included in our backup updates are our enhancements to the minimum free disk space. New installs of cPanel will check for a minimum 5% of free disk space before allowing backups on your machine by default. Users can adjust the minimum allowance by percentage of space, megabytes, or choose to completely disable this feature altogether.
Try this and keep your site’s backups on G Drive 😉
